ABOUT US

Our History

The Henry Hudson Tri-District Education Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) volunteer board collaborating to benefit the students attending Atlantic Highlands Elementary, Highlands Elementary, and Henry Hudson Regional Schools.  Superintendent, Dr. Susan Compton and Atlantic Highlands Resident, Sarah Chiles, developed the non-profit to enhance STE@M initiatives and take some of the financial burden from the Boards of Education and taxpayers for innovative, sustaining programs and activities for students.

Since its inception (2014) to the present, the HHTDEF has raised over $103,000 to fund numerous programs, assemblies, activities, competitions and supplies for the students of our community.  Many events are open to anyone interested in STE@M learning—not just those who attend Tri-District schools. These include an annual Cardboard Boat Race Competition (see events page) that draws teams from all over Monmouth County to compete for trophies and bragging rights.  Currently in planning is a Kite Race where participants design, build, and fly their creations in competition!  Every September, HHTDEF sponsors a Liberty Science Center assembly hosted by Henry Hudson Regional School. These interactive and entertaining Science programs are offered to all local youth and their families at no charge.

Why STE@M Education is Important

Our continually changing world calls us to think creatively, collaborate well, work with teams of diverse abilities--and to take calculated risks. STE@M programming is about taking all those different disciplines and solving real problems.  Art programs are essential in the STE@M learning process...teams need both left and right brain thinking to come up with the most innovative solutions.

Meet Our Board

The Foundation board is made up of parents and community leaders who give generously of their time, resources, expertise, and ideas to help fundraise and sustain programs in the Tri-District schools. We enjoy teaming up with teachers and administrators to provide an inter-active experience for all—not just students.  While still in our formative years, we foresee continued success for enriching education for current and future generations.
